The goal of “Now What?” is to get Officials to take a stand on the multiple issues surrounding P2PH and I-70, and (even if it’s a “done deal”) see if it’s based on actual facts, documentary evidence (as in what’s in the Documents) and the record of events.  If it’s not, or it’s more about the “story” sold to the public, the goal is to press them to justify publicly their position when evidence to the contrary exists.

The following are some suggested, and serious, questions to ask our Public Officials (City Council Members, the Mayor and City Administration, CDOT, etc.):

Do you support the City’s Platte to Park Hill project (P2PH) as the best solution for Drainage Problems for Denver’s northeast neighborhoods?

Do you support CDOT’s I-70 PCL (Central 70 Project) and believe dropping the highway is the best solution to resolve I-70’s issues?

Do you believe the City was dishonest with the public in how it explained P2PH’s relationship to I-70?

Do you believe P2PH’s timing and location in relation to I-70 is a Coincidence, or that it’s “Independent”, “Complimentary”, “Aligned”, or a “Wise use of Taxpayer dollars” and “Smart Government”?

Do you believe P2PH immediately, and first and foremost, protects the same area where I-70 and most of the NDCC resides with 100-year flood protection?

Do you acknowledge P2PH provides the Primary 100-year flood protection for I-70 and other NDCC developments including the NWC, Commuter Rail Lines, and parts of RiNO?

Do you acknowledge that Denver Taxpayers paid for the majority of the 100-year flood protection for an Interstate Highway project (I-70 PCL) through Denver?

Should State and Federal taxes, as well as CDOT’s P3 partners, have paid for the majority of the flood protection required for I-70 PCL, since it was a Highway Project?

Do you believe CDOT used realistic cost numbers in comparing the Alternative I-270/I-76 options with the PCL option?

Do you think the Vasquez Blvd and I-70 Superfund site where I-70 will be dropped has been sufficiently remediated?

Are you concerned the EPA is currently under an Administration that doesn’t even want an EPA, while they are approving this Superfund area for development?

Do you believe all the toxic chemical health effects on citizens in the GES neighborhoods from digging two mile-long trenches (39th Ave Channel and I-70 PCL) in a Superfund site have been adequately addressed?

Do you believe all the air pollution health effects on citizens in the GES neighborhoods from having a major highway dropped below grade in their neighborhood have been adequately addressed?
